Honiton Town are in action tonight (Wednesday) when they entertain Sidmouth Town in a South West Peninsula League Eastern Division game hat kicks off at Mountbatten Park at 6.30pm.

The Hippos go into a second successive midweek East Devon derby looking to emulate their success seven days ago against Budleigh Salterton.

So what sort of a start have tonight’s visitors made to their campaign?

Sidmouth Town, now managed by Richard Pears, began their season with a 1-0 defeat at Axminster Town and they then drew 1-1 in a midweek meeting with Torridgeside at Manstone Lane.

The Vikings then defeated visiting Newton Abbot Spurs 5-1 before winning 4-2 in a Monday night game at University. Their most recent outing was last Saturday when they went down 3-0 at Ilfracombe.

It all means that tonight’s Mountbatten Park visitors will start the game sitting ninth in the table with seven points from five games – and, on Saturday, they have an FA Vase tie at Western League Kensham Town.

The Hippos go into tonight’s meeting sitting four places and four points worse off than the Vikings.
