Honiton Town Reserves were beaten 5-0 at home to Bampton.

However, for two-thirds of the contest the Hippos’s second team were the equal of their high-flying visitors.

Manager John Lewis said: “Whilst the score line suggests it was a poor performance, the fact is that, for the first 65 minutes there was precious little between the teams.

Our undoing was a couple of uncharacteristic defensive mistakes that ultimately cost us dearly. Going down like this is nothing to really get alarmed about. We have to stick together show a bit of character and put it behind us. The best way to do that is go out and win the next game! There will be a couple of changes to give every one a kick up the backside and I will also look at myself as I pick the side and must do better for my players.”
