Archant

Honiton Reserves laboured their way to a 2-1 Mountbatten park success over Winkleigh.

In what was, in general, a low-key contest, the home side rarely got out of first gear and neither goalkeeper had work to do before the break!

Acting manager partnership, and brothers, Joe and Jack Knight, rang the changes in the first half and it bore fruition when Ryan Dunn who had been pushed into a striking role slid the ball in to make it 1-0. However, the home keeper then lost sight of the ball and a tame shot squirmed its way through and crept over the line to level things up. A delicate lob again with Dunn again the scorer, gave Honiton all three points.

A huge positive for the side to take from the contest was that, despite being well below their best, they still banked the full three points!

On Saturday Town’s second string travel into Exeter to meet Stoke Hill.
