Honiton Town Reserves were good value for their Fresha League Division Four 3-1 win over Lords XI at Mountbatten Park.

Tim Genders netted a double and the other home goal came from Blake Freemantle.

Two-goal Genders was named Man of the Match by match sponsor John Freemantle from JD Tyre and exhaust centre.

Town second team boss John Lewis said: “I have to be pleased with the overall efforts of the side. However, given the standards that we are setting for ourselves these days I do feel it was below-par and I am sure we will see improvement in the coming matches. With three teams this season competition for places is red hot and so players need to show a real consistency of performance to retain the shirt!”

Honiton third team went down 3-1 in their meeting with Axminster Town thirds.

Ryan Pike scored the Town goal while the accolade for Man of the Match went to Mason Rhode.

Third team boss Andrew Pike said: “The result is a disappointment, but the performance was encouraging. We made a shocking start, but then settled into the game and passed the ball around well. There is certainly things we can build on.”

After the action at Mountbatten Park the teams enjoyed a barbecue.
