Honiton Town suffer more weather woe as postponements mount up

Honiton Town suffered a sixth postponement in eight weeks when their match at Pinhoe fell foul of a soggy Exeter pitch.
The postponement means yet another game having to be re-scheduled in what is already set to be a busy end of season for the Mountbatten Park outfit.
One incredible statistic is that, to date, Kev Blackwell’s side have played just one of their 13 away league games!
Since the opening day of their campaign, September 8, Town have played only at Clyst Valley Reserves who they beat 4-3 on November 17.
Including this coming Saturday when Town are scheduled to host the side sitting immediately above them in the Division Two table, Sidmouth Town Reserves, there are 15 more Saturday’s until the first weekend in May, which sees the start of a new Francis Clark Devon cricket league season which a lot of Fresha League footballers are involved in.
With 20 league games and at least one cup tie still to play it’s set to be a busy schedule for Blackwell and his charges.
Sidmouth Town’s visit on Saturday is a game that Blackwell is looking forward to. He says: “Local derby matches tend to offer that little extra spice. We have been doing then basic things very well in recent games and all I shall be asking of the players is more of the same please.”
Offwell Rangers suffered a fifth cancellation in eight matches when their game with Crediton was one of a number of games to lose out to the weather.
Rangers will be hoping for better weather this coming Saturday when they are set to host Upottery.
Gary Osbourne’s side will not reach half way in their Division Three season until the game after the meeting with Upottery, a trip to Lympstone on January 26.
That will be the teams first away league game for 11 weeks, their last being a November 10, 7-3 defeat at Dolphin.
