Honiton Under-10s suffer penalty shoot-out woe after great effort

Honiton Under-10s entertained Cullompton Diamonds in what turned out to be a tight and thrilling Exeter and District Youth League KO Cup tie, writes Jerry White.

There was just the one goal in a closely contested first half with Lewis Clyburn getting on the end of one of a number of slick Honiton moves to fire his side ahead.

After the break both defences were on top and again there was just a single goal, this one scored by Cully to take the game into extra-time.

Neither side could find a winner and so the contest was decided by a penalty shoot-out, won 1-0 by the Diamonds to see them into the next round. Honiton may well have been edged out, but the whole team deserve plenty of credit for the collective contribution they made to a fine game.
