Honiton Under-13s went out of the Exeter and District League KO Cup beaten 6-0 at high-flying Division One outfit Central.

Despite the score final score the first half was a close affair and any causal onlookers would have been hard pressed to spot there were two leagues between the sides as Honiton gave as good as they got throughout the half.

The all-round work-rate was phenomenal and the collective industry had its desired effect as the hosts were only able to net once, and that was just before the break when they seized on a mistimed clearance.

Honiton began the second half well. However, the home side’s class came to the fore the longer the game wore on and they added five unanswered second half goals to comfortably win the game, but Honiton can be mighty proud of their efforts.

In terms of a Man of the Match award – that was so hard to call with every single player deserving of the honour! The undoubted highlight overall was the performance of Will Whitworth in goal.
