Honiton Under-13s make powerful start to new term

Honiton Under-13s made a powerful start to a new Exeter and District Youth League season with an emphatic 10-3 success at home to Copplestone.

It was a near-perfect start to the teams life as an 11-a-side outfit.

In a pacey start they were ahead in the early stages courtesy of a Dominic McCreadie-Taylor goal.

A second soon followed –via an unfortunate visiting player and four more were added to give the home side a 6-1 half-time lead.

There were six more goals in the second half as the Honiton youngsters moved the ball around with real intent.

Whilst the six goal haul of McCreadie-Taylor bags the headlines, the whole team deserve credit for what was a very good all-round show.

The other goals came from Caleb Freemantle (2) and Max Salter scored his first goal for the club.

Home glovesman Will Whitworth enjoyed his day in front of a full size goal, including an outstanding double save late on, and a mention also goes to Luke Matthews who stepped up a year and gave a steady display at full-back.
