Hoole double and Millwey Rise win once again

Millwey Rise maintained their Fresha League Division Six 100 per cent record with a 4-0 success at Stoke Hill.

The win means Millwey Rise have now won all four of their games since joining the league and have scored 19 goals in the process.

In a close encounter of a first half, Millwey hit the woodwork twice and the home keeper made some good saves, but half-time arrived with the games still waiting for an opening goal.

The deadlock was finally broken on the hour thanks to a surging run from Michael Knight and when he delivered the ball into the area, Mark Pike applied the finish.

Shane Featherstone doubled the lead 10 minutes later and two late Levi Hoole goals gave Millwey Rise three more points. Hoole has now scored 10 goals already this season.

Millwey Rise boss Simon Flint said: “We were not at our best, but we got the three points which was the aim.”

The Millwey Rise Reserves did not enjoy such a good afternoon as they went down 8-1 to Honiton Town third team.

The Millwey goal was scored by Ashley Doble on his debut.

This Saturday the club’s first team host Winkleigh and the Reserves travel to Lapford.
