Honiton Under-12s recorded their third draw of the season in a close encounter with visiting Exeter-based City Raiders.

The two sides looked well-matched in the early stages, but it was the Exeter-based side that had the first chance to score when awarded a penalty. However, despite a well-struck shot Honiton gloves man Oliver Turl saved the initial shot and then got up well to keep out a second attempt! After the break a second spot kick was awarded, this time to Honiton after a push on Dan Loosemore and Laura-Beth Outram stroked the ball home. The lead was almost doubled when a Caleb Freemantle left foot volley came back off a post. Honiton continued to press forward in search of a decisive second goal, but their pocket was picked when the Raiders broke through and struck the equaliser.

Manager Stuart Ward said: “It was a well-contested game. The whole team can be pleased with their efforts and we saw a welcome return to form from a number of players. Caleb Freemantle, Max Salter and debutant Sammy Paveley gain special mention for their efforts.”
