It was a big Saturday of cup football for local teams and Macron League leaders Colyton made Devon Premier Cup progress with a 3-1 home win over Seaton Town.

Feniton claimed a major scalp as they knocked out South West Peninsula League Eastern Division side Liverton United 3-2 thanks to an own goal and a double from Aaron Pearse.

Beer Albion were edged out at another SWP League side, losing 1-0 at St Martins.

Axminster Town Reserves were unable to raise a side for their Bill Slee Cup tie in Exeter against Whipton and Pinhoe, but, in the same competition, Beer Reserves produced a stunning display to defeat Otterton, who currently top the division above the one the Fishermen’s second team play in, 8-2.

There was Devon Intermediate Cup action for Dunkeswell and they made progress thanks to a 1-0 victory over Central.

In Macron League games, Upottery, who had beaten Okehampton Argyle 2-0 at Glebe Park seven days before, lost 3-1 in the return fixture! In Division Two matches, Honiton Town Reserves lost 9-1 to University III and Tipton St John went down 4-2 at Royal Oak.

In Division Three, Axmouth United were beaten 8-0 by University 4ths while Ottery St Mary had come back from 2-0 down to be level 2-2 at Sandford when the game was abandoned late on after a broken leg was suffered by one of the home team.

This Saturday there are a couple of Macron League Premier Division local derby meetings with table-topping Colyton, who have score 44 goals in their unbeaten seven top flight games so far, entertaining Feniton while Lyme Regis entertain Upottery. There’s also home action for Seaton Town, who host Clyst Valley.

In Division Two, there’s home action for Honiton Town Reserves, when they play Newtown Reserves.

It’s Devon Intermediate Cup day and there are home cup matches for Beer Reserves, Otterton and Ottery St Mary, who meet Kingskerswell and Chelston, Bideford Community and Dartmouth Reserves respectively.

Feniton and Upottery Reserves are also in Intermediate Cup action. Fenny host D and C Auto Repairs while Upottery Reserves are home to Cheriton Fitzpaine.
