Exeter City are set to renew rivalries with a side wearing the famous red and white of Manchester United.

Following their 'financially life saving' meetings with the Premiership giants a couple of years ago, City are set to stage a 'Legends' meeting between a side of Exeter City old boys and similar from the Old Trafford club.

The game will take place at St James Park on Sunday, September 7, with kick-off at 2pm. Admission prices will be adults, £5 with OAPs, concessions and children under 14 all £2.

The match will be followed by a Celebrity Sporting Dinner at the Thistle Hotel, Exeter, which will be attended by all the Legends, with the evening to include a three-course meal, entertainment, Questions & Answers with the Manchester United legends, and an auction of United sporting memorabilia.

Tickets for this unique dinner are priced at £40 per person (inc VAT) with tables of 10 available for £400 or hosted by a United legend £500 to include a signed football.

The United side is likely to be Fraser Digby, Arthur Albiston, Mike Duxbury, Clayton Blackmore, David May, Denis Irwin, Lee Martin, Peter Davenport, Sammy McIlroy, Lee Sharpe (TBC) Bryan Robson (TBC).

Exeter City senior commercial manager Mark Jenkins has underlined the coup that the club have pulled off in bringing the star-studded United line- up to Devon:

"Following on from the success of bringing the Liverpool legends to the Westcountry last season, we felt that our next step was to try to secure the Legends team from the Premiership and European Champions. This is a unique occasion.

"We are delighted to have signed the Manchester United legends, and are expecting to exceed the 2,500 supporters who came to watch the entertainment provided when Liverpool came to Exeter.

"This promises not just to be a day for United fans, but for all those across the South West who admire some of British football's great names. To have two European cup winners (Irwin and May) in the United squad adds a little extra to an already exciting team.

"They will compete with a very good City line-up and, alongside the other entertainment we have planned around the ground for that afternoon, it promises to make it a family day to remember."

As well as the United legends on show, in the run-up to the match, the club will be announcing opportunities for United fans to join with the Legends team through various sponsorship and media opportunities.
