Matthews nets in Feniton loss

Feniton ladies were beaten in their first outing in this season’s Westward Developments Devon Women’s Football League.

They lost by the odd goal in five to Activate with Nat and Steff Matthews scoring their goals.

The other Premier Division game ended 1-1 between Bideford and Budleigh Salterton.

Annabel Hulstead scored for Bideford and Leah Rawlings netted for Budleigh.

In Division One, newcomers, Newton St Cyres visited Brixham Villa and collected all three points from a 2 - 0 win. Scorers for St Cyres were Lauren Egington and Ashleigh Steer.

Tavistock made the relatively short journey to play Morley Rangers and won 7 - 1. Donna Weeks and Sarah Martin both scored twice, with Becky McMullin, Robyn Hammond and Becky Turner getting one apiece. Morley’s goal was scored by Gabi Aphous.

Plainmoor Ladies welcomed Okehampton Argyle, who are returning to the League after a few year’s absence, and handed out a 14 - 1 thrashing. Rachel Rainbird led the way with four goals, Danni Wyatt bagged a hat trick, Abigail scored twice and Courtenay Joyner, Megan Williams and Maddie Hayes scored one each. Okey didn’t help themselves by scoring an own goal. Siobhan Aslett scored the consolation goal in the right end for the visitors
