Archant

There’s a new book out on the final Monday of the February and it is sure to be of great interest to all football followers – and indeed, a much wider audience, writes Steve Birley.

The book ‘Nissen huts to Houses’, is written by Dick Sturch, who is a regular correspondent with regard to the fortunes of Millwey Rise FC.

His latest book covers the years 1953-60 when today’s Millwey Rise Estate was under construction.

One particular section of the book covers the formation of Millwey Rise Football Club with pictures from the period (our article has a cover picture of action from a Millwey Rise game in the 1958-59 season)).

Dick’s first book, ‘The Camp’ was published last year.

‘Nissen huts to Houses’ is available from the Archway Bookshop, Axminster and Central Stores, Millwey Rise, priced at £4.50.
