University 2, Upottery 4

Upottery opened up a three-point lead at the top of Fresha League Division Three with a hard-working performance that delivered victory at the home of the team that started the day sitting second in the table.

Goals from Steve Morris and Mark Tucker saw the villagers into a 2-1 interval lead. After the break the students levelled, but once Morris had notched his second Dan Prettejohn’s men went on to control proceedings and made sure of all three points thanks to a Dan Scadden goal.

Prettejohn said: “All the lads put a shift in. It was a tough game because of the pre-match table places. The win keeps our momentum going and the games can’t some quick enough for me.”

Mark Tucker and defender Adam Crabb were the stand out individual performers for the villagers.

On Saturday Upottery travel to Exmouth Amateurs Reserves where they will, be without Gary Moore. However, Sam Winslade and Joe Jones who missed the University victory, return.
