Offwell Rangers took a point from a 4-4 home draw with Pinhoe Reserves.
Rangers got their noses in front early on with Daniel Williams the scorer after a neat passage of play orchestrated by Ashley Trudgeon.
Boosted by the goal Rangers enjoyed a period of dominance and created a couple of further chances before a defensive error was punished by the visitors who levelled things up.
Pinhoe quickly bagged a second to claim the lead, but Harry Hutton marked his first start of the season with a precise pass to player-boss Scott Phillips who rifled the ball home from 20-yards to make it 2-2.
Another piece of defensive uncertainly resulted in a third goal for the visitors, but parity was swiftly restored when Dean Williams netted his eleventh goal in seven games this term.
Injuries hit the home side, but the changes seemed to give them greater resolve and they took a 4-3 lead when Phillips found Dean Thomas in the area and he stroked the ball home.
Deep into added time the visitors scored their fourth after which there was not even enough time left to re-start!
Boss Phillips said: “I am fairly long in the tooth in terms of playing and I have to say that that is the hardest blow I have seen any team I have been involved in have to take! What I am clear about is that we are improving week by week and game by game. The players most certainly did not deserve to be pegged back like that, but that’s football! I am so pleased with the all-round effort and application. We have four regular players back this week so competition for places is getting very tough, but we will need the strongest squad possible going into the next few weeks as have a tough run coming up but very confident with the players we now have.”
Lessons Trophies were the match sponsors and they opted for Jake Phillips as their choice for the Man of the Match award.
