Despite taking an early lead Offwell Rangers eventually went down 4-1 when they visited Fresha League champions-elect Winchester.

A superb through-ball from Tim Huxley released Dean Thomas who set himself up before unleashing the sweetest of strikes from 25-yards.

However, Rangers were unable to take their advantage into the break as the table toppers levelled just before the whistle.

After the break Rangers seemed to play with less purpose and certainly less tempo and that is what ultimately led to their defeat as Winchester were ruthless in front of goal.

Player-boss Scott Phillips did score a second for his side with a well struck free-kick.

Phillips said after the match: “We’ve got a big squad and places have been hard fought for and I’d like to say a massive thanks to the players that stepped up for this game, many of them who have not had much action of late. Every player put in a great shift, but for me the Man of the Match honour must be shared between the excellent duo of Jamie Westwood and Ben Kayes.”
