Offwell Rangers shared four goals on their Fresha League midweek visit to Lyme Regis.

Player-boss Scott Phillips said: “The player commitment was superb and went with a full squad. We have an ex Lyme player in our team and pointed out that they were playing virtually their first team, but rather than worry about that, to a man, it was great to see that we rose to the challenge.”

Rangers made a bright start and felt aggrieved to have an early ‘goal’ chalked off for off-side. Back came the home side and, aided by some sloppy defending, scored twice, but Rangers were never ‘out of the game’ and halved the deficit before the break through new skipper Steve Curry.

After the break Rangers found a new gear – or two – and deservedly levelled through a terrific strike from Ben Fullick. They also had another effort again ruled out for a tight off-side decision by the linesman.

Phillips said: “That second half was as good as anything I have had the fortune to see from a Rangers side during my time as manager. The lads really did deliver a five-start show.”

Local band Sweet Black Angels were the match sponsors and picked Ben Kayes as the Man of the Match.

On Saturday Rangers host Colyton in another league game.
