Offwell Rangers gave a good account of themselves as they went down 5-2 to title chasing Whipton and Pinhoe.

What made the Rangers task all the more difficult was that many of the team had been to Christmas parties the night before!

Unsurprisingly, given the amount of ;night owls’ on duty the side fell behind and trailed 3-0 before a Dan Williams double fired Rangers back into the contest.

After the break Rangers were as good as the Exeter side, but their finishing was not as good as the impressive approach [play and, after spurning chances to level, Rangers were hit by some clinical finishing, shipping two more goals in the closing stages.

The Offwell Man of the Match award, sponsored and chosen by The Holt, Honiton, was shared between was shared between Jamie Westwood and Nigel Nidd.

Rangers boss Scott Phillips said: “It was a very physical game, but we gave as good as we got and the team are really sticking together now. When we got back to 3-2 I felt we were going to get something from the game. Overall, I was pleased with the performance and we gave one of the favourites for the league a really good game.”
