Offwell Rangers win well at Central

Offwell Rangers boss Scott Phillips took advantage of a recent match day off to watch future opposition in action and it paid dividends on match day two of the new year when his side won 3-1 against Exeter-based outfit Central FC.

Phillips said: “The week before our game had been called off so we took the opportunity to go and watch them (Central) to see if we could learn anything. It clearly worked as our tactics and formation made sure we won, and with something to spare!”

Rangers spurned the opportunity to make a perfect start, with regular penalty taker Ernie Stobbs striking a first minute spot kick at the Central goalkeeper! The lead came soon after though when a fine run and cross from Steve Curry was met by the head of Daniel Williams. The advantage was doubled when Williams struck again, this one his 19th of the season so far! Central hit back, but the two-goal lead was swiftly restored with James Dingle climbing above everybody else in the Central area to head the ball home.

Phillips said: “I am really pleased with how far the team has come in such a short space of time and they’re all a top bunch of lads and a pleasure to manage.”

Match sponsors The Deer Park Hotel opted for Steve Curry as the Rangers Man of the Match.

Rangers are very grateful to the Deer Park Hotel for the sponsorship of their tracksuit tops.
