Dunkeswell Rovers went into their Fresha League Division Five East Devon derby with Beer Albion Reserves looking to make up the five points that stood between the sides, though the Fishermen have played two more games.

The game started well with both teams trying hard to get there noses in front but it was the home team who broke the deadlock when Dunks didn’t clear the ball far enough and a Beer player slotted home.

Dunks made the Beer keeper pull off a couple good saves before the break, but the half ended 1-0. Dunks came out fighting at the start of the second half and played some good football with the end result being an excellent finish from Brad Morris.

Beer rallied and began to cause the Dunks defence real trouble with Rhys Andrews having to put in great shift at right back. Beer always carried a threat from set pieces and it was a good header from a corner that gave them the lead again.

With time ticking away and Beer still attacking it looked as if a home win was on the cards especially after they where awarded a penalty after a handball in the area. However, the spot kick went wide and that miss was made all the more crucial when, with five minutes remaining Ryan Pike applied a clinical finish to give Dunks a share of the spoils.

As well as the goal scorers and Rhys Sid Berry also deserves a mention for his constant hard work in a difficult game
