Pislaru back with brace as Upottery bag another win

Upottery were 4-2 winners at home to Tedburn St Mary, their second success of the Fresha League Division Three season.

The villagers trailed early on but an own goal followed by one from Chaz Lane put them in charge.

With Catalan Pislaru, now back in harness at Upottery after a brief spell at Sidbury, pulling all the strings and orchestrating much of what was positive about the villagers performance, it looked as if Upottery would take a lead into the break. However the Mid Devon side had other ideas and reached half-time all square at 2-2.

A half-time pep talk from an on-crutches Dan Prettejohn, the Upottery boss injured playing in Sunday football at Churchinford, seemed to have the desired effect as the second half was bossed from start to finish by the hosts.

Pislaru fired them ahead and, when Sam Winslade slotted yet another goal, the game was put to bed.

Prettejohn said: “It was a good all-round performance and it certainly makes a difference to have Catalan (Pislaru) back with us.”

Next up, a real opportunity for a third league success of the season as they host basement dwellers Axminster Town who have yet to bank a single point in their league campaign.
