Town shared the spoils with a side they had beaten 1-0 in Mid Devon earlier in the campaign thanks to a late penalty from Josh French.

Tom Vincent had fired Town into a first half lead but the visiting side netted twice after the break to look set for all three points until that late spot kick.”

Town boss Josh Stunell said: “After what has been a horrible week for everybody at the club this was a superb collective effort. I don’t think I have seen us play with such spirit this year, never mind this season and new skipper Mark Hancock certainly galvanised everybody together. It was all very reassuring to see the togetherness with which the team played and a share of the spoils was the very least we deserved.”

On Saturday Town travel to new leaders Hatherleigh Town who will start the day just six points above them.

Stunell says: “If we play with the same sort of passion and togetherness that we showed against Willand then I am sure we will do ourselves justice. We are going there looking to win.”
