Seaton Under-9s kicked off their new season on Saturday edged out by the odd goal in three by Millwey Rise.

Seaton’s team-work was exceptional and their attacking play, with quick and incisive passing, centring around the excellent Henry Matthews, crafted out numerous opportunities, but Leo Gribble and George Gait found the Millway keeper in fine form.

Aaron Hale nearly gave Seaton something for their efforts, but saw his rising drive come back off the bar. Max Nevell and Kieran Jaycock were outstanding in defence and are forming a very solid partnership, winning crucial tackles and linking up with the midfield. If the team can continue to build on this performance, they will have a fine season. Colyton and Seaton then mixed up players for a friendly match, which included all players in attendance. The match was great fun; with the spectators never knowing quite which team to cheer for and the game, which fittingly ended in a draw, made for an enjoyable end to the morning’s football.
