Seaton Under-16s powered their way into the semi-finals of the Exeter and District Youth League Under-16 Plate with a 6-1 defeat of County Under-16 quarter-finalists Brixington Blues.

In that run to the last eight of the County Cup Blues had beaten Seaton and the sides also drew in the opening game of the Division Two season back in September – both Seaton and the Exmouth side remain unbeaten in their respective league campaigns.

Seaton made the perfect start taking an early lead through Kyle Gould. Despite not playing since early December the team were quickly into their stride and Joe Urquhart bagged a first half brace whilst Gould doubled his tally and Seaton led 4-1 at half-time.

After the break Seaton’s control of the game continued and they added further goals courtesy of an Ollie Binnion penalty and a hat-trick sealing finish from Gould.

Team boss Ian Franklin said: “The formation we adopted ensured that all resources were used. The defensive unit of Pete Smith, Jamie Tait, Ollie Binion and Brandon Curl were fantastic. They held their line superbly to catch the opposition off-side countless times. Behind them James Jobson was outstanding in goal. Overall the team work shown by the lads was simply first rate.”

James Jobson was named Man of the Match for Seaton who are next in action on Saturday, January 24 when they travel to Exeter to meet West Exe Youth.
