Seaton Under-9s were involved in pair of cracking matches against Brixington teams on the Saturday before Christmas.
First up, against Brixington United, they were edged out by the odd goal in five!
This was a contest full of tough tackling and slick attacking play from both sides.
Leo Gribble scored both goals, the second a sweet volley from a corner, but a late United free-kick denied them the draw, that on the balance of play, they deserved. Adam Clinch and Kieran Jaycock were superb in defence.
Next up were the Blues and Seaton turned in their best performance of the season, winning 2-0. From goalkeeper to striker, as a team they were outstanding. After less than a minute Henry Matthews latched onto a through ball from Lewis Gorman and calmly tucked away the opener. Aaron Hale then slammed in a second just before half time, following another great flowing move. Seaton’s defence held firm in the second half, with Max Nevell and Corbin Reel patrolling the midfield.
Seaton coach Alan Hale said: “It was a brilliant way for the team to end the year. The team spirit was fantastic. The players worked their socks off for each other and got their just reward.”
