In their first game for almost two months, Feniton Under-18s showed no sign of rustiness as they recorded a comprehensive 4-1 win over North Devon-based visitors Holsworthy.

Starting the game in a new 4-3-3 formation, Feniton began on the front foot with forwards Oscar Walsh, Adam Wilkinson and Renz Farnican combining well with midfielders Sam Brook and Christian Whales to set up a number of early half chances.

With Chris Badcott sitting in a deeper role, it enabled Feniton to get on top in the key midfield battle and on twenty minutes Feniton went in front when an exquisite 40-yard pass from centre half Charley Skilton was despatched from just inside the box from the deadly foot of Adam Wilkinson.

More heavy pressure with Walsh feeding Wilkinson led to the outstanding Farnican being in the right place to tap home a rebound to see Feniton take a deserved 2-0 lead on 28 minutes.

Holsworthy threw caution to the wind in an attempt to get back into the game, but found full backs Kai Morgan and Haydn Tucker along with centre half Skilton and Matt Futcher resolute in the Fenny back line, and when anything did get past them it was superbly dealt with by goalkeeper Sam Hill.

However, on the stroke of half-time, Holsworthy pressure finally told and they halved the deficit to go in 2-1 down at the break.

The second half began with Feniton having to weather some heavy pressure. However, midfield dynamo Sam Brook with his fourth goal in five games ensured that Feniton took a hold of the game when he calmly put the ball beyond the reach of the Holsworthy goalkeeper on 65 minutes to make it 3-1.

Feniton increased their lead to an unassailable 4-1 when a free-kick on 75 minutes from Man of the Match Charlie Skilton ensured a well-deserved three points from an entertaining Devon County Under-18 League North meeting.
