There was an air of end-of-season about the Fishermen’s shift Warrenview where they came up against a home team fighting for their Fresha top flight lives.

Beer boss Phil Crabb refused to blame a number of regulars being absent.

He said: “I am afraid it was one of those days when the team that wanted it more got their just rewards. If you don’t put enough into a contest then you’ll end up as we did, second best. That said the lads have rarely let us down this season so I can’t be too hard on them.”

He also had another theory as to the Beer under-par performance saying: “Once again we have not played well, when then sun is shining, that’s a common denominator in our poorer performances. I guess you could say we are not a sunshine outfit!”

The Fishermen have to wait now until Saturday, May 4 for their next outing, a visit to Thorverton where it will signal the end of another season for the Furzebrake men.
