Upottery can win Fresha Two title at Sidmouth on Saturday

Upottery head to Manstone Lane, Sidmouth on Saturday looking for the single point that will see them crowned Fresha League Division Two champions.
All that has come about after one of their main challengers, University fourths, dropped points in two midweek evening games this week.
Even defeat to the Vikings’ second team would not end the villagers hopes of a title win for they would the go to Dawlish on Monday (May 4) needing to win to claim the top honour.
Adding spice to the mix, in terms of Saturday’s visit to Sidmouth, if the home team were to win and then Upottery slip up again at Dawlish on Bank Holiday Monday, then the Vikings would be crowned champions if they can defeat Chulmleigh in their final game next Thursday (May 7).
That match is set for Manstone Lane with a 7pm kick-off.
However, before that all comes into play the Upottery destiny is very much in their own hands, a fact not lost on manager Dan Prettejohn who says: “Saturday is a huge game now. With the demise of University fourths (Upottery beat them last weekend since when the Students have dropped five more points losing a Monday night game to Newtown and then being held on Wednesday night by relegation-threatened Culm United), Sidmouth Town Reserves have suddenly got a sniff off the title for themselves. It’s in our hands though and I am confident the lads will be ready for what is arguably the biggest game in our history to date. To be playing in the second tier of Fresha league football next season would be very special indeed.”
Fresha League Division Two top three as at Thursday, April 30.
