Upottery denied by visiting Kenn despite posting big score

Upottery’s outside hopes of promotion bit the dust as they were held at home by a Kenn side that closed on 159-7 in reply to the villagers 216-8.

Stuart Drew (61), Jason Kennard (55) and skipper David Woolacott (43) all contributed towards the host’s total. Stuart Drew (3-17) and Gary Kennard (3-34) were the successful home bowlers as Kenn closed on 159-7.

Upottery II head into Saturday’s final game of the season at home to Seaton II knowing that a win will see them land, at the very least, a promotion spot.

If Dan Prettejohn’s men can beat the visitors and bag three more points than Exeter III get in their game at home to Kenn, then Upottery would go up as champions! Prettejohn’s men completed their away fixtures with a winning draw at Kenn II where they declared on 266-8 after 490 overs.

Jack Trevisick (86), Mark Joyce (49, with four 6s) and the skipper (45) all chipped in.

The hosts laboured to a close of 158-6 with none of the seven bowlers used by Upottery bagging more than one wicket.
