Upottery edge closer to Fresha League Three promotion thanks to Morris brace at Tedburn St Mary

Upottery moved to within two victories of a coveted Fresha League Division Three promotion place with a comfortable clean sheet success in Mid Devon.

Steve Morris scored both the villagers goals.

Dave Sawyer and teenager Sam Winslade served up the best of the individual performances.

Upottery boss Dan Prettejohn said: “At this stage of the season results are everything so I can look beyond what I’ll generously call an average team display! We were not at our best, that’s for sure, but we got the job done and so I have to be pleased. As far as winning it I feel that’s beyond us given the number of games University have to play. It’s their title to lose, but we can, and I am sure will, bag that second spot as long as we hold our nerve over the last four matches.”

The first of the remaining Upottery league engagements is at third placed Newtown 4ths where a victory will guarantee them, at worst, a top four finish.
