Upottery claimed a fourth successive home win with a single goal clean sheet success against Chagford.

The only goal of the game came in the first half with Joe Jones providing the assist and Steve Morris the finish.

After the break the visitors introduced a physical side to their game that had the referee busy! Two Chagford players received red cards, but there were no further goals at either end.

Jake Phillips put in the stand-out shift for the home side.

Upottery boss Dan Prettejohn said: “It was a workman-like win. We huffed and puffed and certainly had more of the ball than they (Chagford) did. However, one thing certainly missing was a finish! That said we have now won four from four at home and sit in a top three berth which, if we are still, there come next May, will mean we start next term in the second tier of the Fresha league – now for a village side like us that really would be something special.”

On Saturday Upottery host Okehampton Argyle Reserves in a Devon senior Cup tie.
