Upottery Reserves went out of the Devon Intermediate Cup, beaten 3-0 at Glebe Park by visiting Buckfastleigh Rangers.

The cup tie had been due to be played the week before, but a waterlogged pitch in South Devon meant a switch of venues to Upottery.

The home side, who had sat out the previous two match days, did look a little rusty and it did not take long for the visiting side to take advantage, opening the scoring early on and, despite Upottery finding their feet, they fell two goals behind until the half hour.

Upottery began the second half with greater purpose to their game and asked plenty of questions of a well-organised Buckfastleigh defence. Sadly, it was not meant to be for the home side and they fell 3-0 down with 15 minutes to play. From there, it was game over, and now Upottery can concentrate on yet another Macron League promotion. They return to league action this Saturday when they travel into Exeter to meet Central (2.15pm).
