Upottery Reserves are celebrating securing a second successive Macron League promotion after a run of wins against top four opposition.

The villagers have beaten Sidmouth thirds 3-1, Exmouth Spartans 2-1 and also bagged a 5-0 win over struggling Cheriton Fitzpaine. After those three victories, Upottery took on third in the table Cranbrook in an evening game.

The villagers went into the contest knowing that they had to win to stay at the top of the table and with it, guarantee a top three finish and promotion to Division Five for next season.

Fifteen minutes into the game, Owen McCreadie-Taylor opened the scoring with a well-worked individual goal.

Another 15 minutes passed before Gavin Richards netted to double the lead and that was how it stayed through until the interval.

After the break Brad Morris set up McCreadie-Taylor who applied a calm finish and that proved to be the final goal in the contest.

With other results ‘going their way’, it all meant that Upottery had secured promotion and a point in Monday’s (May 8) home meeting with Bampton, will see them win the Division Six title.
