A five-a-side walking football tournament was held on the 3G surface in Axminster, writes Michael Holdsworth.

All games were 10 minutes long and only in one match were the teams divided by more than a single goal.

In the end the hosts managed to collect the most points, but more importantly the games were all played in a friendly and comradely manner.

After the games, most of those who played enjoyed a barbecue and drink in the lovely garden at the Lamb Inn.

Walking Football encourages both men and women to participate and on Sunday there were players well into their 70s and several who had become involved as a way to get active after various health concerns. There are a number of sessions in East Devon and Exeter.

Axminster hold theirs every Monday from 11am until noon, and new walkers are always welcomed.
