Feniton Under-15s were involved in the ‘Match of the Day’ when they faced the only other team who, like the Acland Park youngsters, remain unbeaten this season, Cullompton.
Conditions were certainly of the troublesome kind and, by the end of the contest areas of the pitch resembled a mud bath!
However, the two side s put lots of energy – and no small amount of class – into the match and one individual player stood out at the final whistle – in terms of scoring goals!
Feniton’s Oscar Walsh scored five of his side’s goals as they came from behind with a terrific and ultimately end as comfortable winners.
Walsh fired Feniton ahead and, despite a superb display at centre back from Chris Badcott, Feniton were pegged back just before the break. Early in the second half Cully took a lead that they held for 12 minutes until a 20-yard strike from Walsh restored parity. Walsh then completed his hat-trick to fire Feniton back in front and a clinical finish from Sam Ayres made it 4-2 before two further goals late on from Walsh saw Feniton to a deserved win and the outright leadership of the division. Dab Baldry had a fine game for Feniton in the right back spot and the contest was well officiated by referee Brian Reeby.
