Walsh so impressive as Feniton Under-18s win handsomely at Brixington

Feniton Under-18s were emphatic 13-0 winners when they visited Brixington for a Devon League game.

It was a ruthless performance masterminded largely by mercurial wingman Oscar Walsh who dazzled throughout with five goals and two assists, bagging his first within three minutes after a 40-yard run taking him past several players and smashing home.

Feniton striker Alex Cole scored the first of his four goal haul to make it 2-0. Although Cole and Walsh bragged the scoring rights this was a team performance again built on solid defensive foundations with Feniton goalkeeper Tom Pryke keeping his third clean sheet in succession behind the ‘defensive rock’ that is Jake Pond, Garreth Blackmore and Sam Brook, a back three that wouldn’t be breached. The pick of the eight first half goals was a terrific free-kick from Jack Hatswell.

After the break, with midfielders Jack Hobday and Conor Flanagan pulling the strings, ably backed up by Christian Whales and rejuvenated striker Cody Cox scored twice. It was the pace of Walsh on the left and Renz Farnican on the right that cause no end of trouble for the home side with Walsh bagging the Man of the Match award.
