Considering the recent rain and fog the seniors were fortunate with the conditions on Thursday and Friday last week, writes Janet Dack.

On Thursday, the club continued their fine run in inter-club matches with a comprehensive home win by 5½ matches to ½. over Sidmouth. Winning pairings for Axe Cliff included Rob Grove/Terry Jessup; Dave Morgan /Bob Graham; Leighton Morgan/John White; Bryan Dale/Brian Blackwood and John Ashbolt/Chris Jowett. The half point was won by Chris Walker/Geoff Hubbard.

●Thirty three players contested the Three Club Shield, a Stableford with three clubs only, one of which must be the putter. This proved of little concern to the runaway winner Alan Vincent (19) with a superb 38pts. Second place with 35pts went to Dave Morgan (17) while three players netted 31pts. Third place on countback went to Bill Polley (16), with Tony Strong (9) and Frank Essex (23) the players to miss out on the prizes.

●Despite several heavy downpours the ladies competed for the Par Cup. There were two winners with equal scores of minus three - Pauline Willis (30) and Helen Kenworthy (17).
