Honiton Town Youth Under-14s were beaten 7-1 by visiting Lympstone Rangers in their first outing since the festive break.
With virtually a full squad available, Honiton were hopeful of a positive result, but any hopes were dashed during the first half as, despite enjoying reasonable possession, individual mistakes were punished by clinical finishing from the visitors, who carried a 5-0 lead into the break.
The second period saw Honiton improve and they created some half chances early on without really troubling the goalkeeper.
Lympstone duly added two further goals before the hosts were eventually rewarded for their tenacity through Caleb Freemantle’s last minute penalty.
Honiton will look to bounce back this coming Saturday (January 14) when they travel to Dawlish United.
