Get into vintage cycling

Two local businesses are working together to promote cycling in East Devon and they’re doing it in a very different way to Team GB’s gold winning Olympians!
Velo Vintage, part of Velo Ventures, who are based in Seaton, are delighted that Bikelands of Exmouth are sponsoring and judging the Best Decorated Bicycles competition on their Cycle West Velo Vintage ride on Sunday, September 9.
Bikelands see themselves as a bicycle emporium rather than a straightforward shop. They’re more leisure than Lycra and more picnic than pain. Stuart and Rebecca Haywood, the owners of Bikelands said: “We love our bicycles and we love to dress up. So when Alistair approached us to get involved with Velo Vintage, we knew from the start it would be a match made in bicycle heaven.” They both continued: “For prizes we have a beautiful hand-crafted silk print scarf for her and a dapper handkerchief for him, both by Alice Nicol.”
Alistair Cope of Velo Vintage said: “We have had so much interest in this our first Vintage Ride in Exmouth and it should be a great fun day for all. We’re so pleased to be working with Bikelands as we seem to share so many beliefs about cycling, but most of all that it should be fun!”
