Gibbons lands Grainger Prior victory at Axe Cliff

Axe Cliff men played the Grainger Prior with the format being medal play with a maximum handicap allowance of 24.

It proved a good competition for Richard Gibbons as he carded a net 70 to seal first place.

Second was Stuart Mackie (net 71) and third, Neil Jones (net 72).

Four players struck twos; Alan Kenworthy, Mike Wickins, G Binmore and Stuart Mackie.

Next up, the men played for the Gees Bowl with the format once again medal, this time with a maximum handicap of 20.

Steve Reed took top spot with a net 72 with Alex Palmer the runner-up with his net 74.

Meanwhile, Axe Cliff ladies played an English Golf (EG) medal even which included round two of the Axe Cliff Cup.

Caroline Bond took top spot with Barbars Cummins the runner-up and Sandra Walker finishing third.

The ladies also contested the bronze section for Warren Crocus qualification.

First place went to the pairing of Alison Cook and Pauline Willis, with Caroline Bond and Jill Wellington the runners-up.

The Granny and non Granny Bowl was another recent competition and the Granny Bowl was won by Caroline Bond with Stella Thompson second whilst the Non Granny Bowl was won by Sandra Walker, who edged out Jo Donmall on countback.
