Girl power as strong East Devon influence sees Devon to County Under-18 triumph

There was a strong East Devon influence in a victory for the Devon Under-18s in the County Cup held at Newport.

Impressive Devon netted a 6-3 success over Cornwall, a 7-2 victory over Oxfordshire and a 5-2 triumph over Leicestershire.

Captained by Charlotte Wallace, the girls returned to Devon with LTA Gold Medals and promotion for 2013.

Emma Hurst, Lara Graney, Liberty and Isabella Brown, all Colyton Grammar students contributed towards victory for the Devon team, along with Sarah Collinge and Katie Millar (Exmouth) and Mae Dartnell and Mia Loye (Ivybridge).

Seaton Tennis Club’s Emma Hurst held her nerve against Leicestershire’s number one seed and higher-rated Helen Thorpe to win 6-4 in the final set, with the Brown sisters unbeaten in all their matches.
