Colyton Grammar School’s girl’s team were in action at the Schools South West Regional cross country championships last weekend.

The girls, who had qualified for the regional finals after a terrific performance in the first round held in Taunton were once in again in top form and will now take part in the National Finals, being held in Bedford on Saturday, December 5.

Of the dozen schools competing in the regional’s Colyton finished a magnificent third.

Colyton School’s Caitlin Smith was first across the line and Izzy Steele was the second Colyton runner home, finishing 12th.

Sarah Steel, a very proud mother of Izzy said: “Izzy remarked that the conditions were the worst that she has race in, and she has certainly been running cross country races for a considerable time since her days at Stockland Primary School. It was muddy and slippery and runners had to contend with torrential rain and high winds throughout.”
