The Indian summer we have enjoyed over the last three weeks did not extend to last Tuesday's Mixed Monthly draw that was played under difficult conditions, but a depleted field braved the cold wind and rain to return some creditable scores.

The winners of the Tuesday Mixed Goblets were Linda Northover and Ted Chandler with 36 points, on countback from Sandy Le Marche and John Aitken, also with 36 points.Yvonne Franks and Ed Backhouse with 35 points and Sue Ritchie and Chris Poole with 34 points were third and fourth respectively.The hostess for the day was Rosemary Poole and congratulations were afforded to Daphne Ayland who stood in at the last minute and responded by achieving a hole-in-one on the second. This was Daphne's third hole-in-one but her first at Honiton.l The October Medal was played in very tricky conditions with strong gusty winds resulting in a competition standard scratch of 76 with no handicap increases.Silver: 1, Jane Watts 78; 2, Diana Gee 79.Bronze 1: 1, Maureen McIlvean 77; 2, Joan Smith 81.Bronze 11: 1, Linda Blundell 79;2, Sue Long 79; 3, Jan Dickinson 79. l Testing wind and light rain meant low scores for this week's junior event. Clear winner of the Junior Glanvill Cup (hcp 19-36) was Jake Phillips with 37 points.Winner of the Ford Cup, for juniors just starting out on their golfing careers (hcp 37-54), was Alasdair Heasman. l Sunday morning saw Honiton Golf Club feeling like the top of the world as the rest of it appeared covered in a blanket of fog.The warm sun certainly helped scoring in this friendly fun 1-2-3 Competition. First with 74 points was Mike Kent, Bob Bilyard and Geoff Filtness.One point behind them on 73 was Barry Wilkinson, Kerry Burke and Andy Wagner.In third place came Andy and Pete Bonnetta partnered by Derek Richards.
