Glass and Jamieson triumph in Axe Cliff seniors’ penultimate round of their Winter League Programme

The Axe Vale seniors staged the penultimate round of their Winter League Programme on a sun-kissed Friday, writes Helen Kenworthy.

Although the leaders, Alan Vincent and Gilbert Cox ended in third place on the day with 36 points, they consolidated their lead and set a formidable target for the field in the final round.

The winners were Malcolm Glass and Mike Jamieson with 40 points which included an eagle two by Jamieson at the sixth.

In second place were Phil Wilkins and Clive Davie with 38 points. Apart from the Jamieson eagle there were also four other twos recorded by Gilbert Cox, Chris Jowett, Clive Walker and Charles Whitbourn.

The ladies had an interclub match that saw Blues take on Pinks with the latter landing a 4-1 success.

Sandra Walker, Barbara Cummings, Margaret Kenchington, Janet Dack and Lesley Crawford were the Oinks winners whilst the lone success for Blues came from Pauling Willi.
