The Lyme Regis men played a 4-ball better ball competition on Sunday, writes Richard Jackman.

The result was so close with count back being called into play over the final three holes which saw the team of Geoff Moss, Tim Daniel and Malcolm Wilson win with 74 points from David Lock, Billy White and Chris Browne

Lyme seniors played their Gordon Putter medal competition and John Jones, with a blistering 66, did enough to push Peter Mayles (68), into second place.

Count back was used to separate the next players with Stuart Marples taking third place with 69 from the only other par-breaker, Tony Johnstone.

Lyme ladies played for three trophies last Thursday. The Vi Crow Trophy was won convincingly by Corinne Jones with a magnificent score of 42 points from Karen Nicholson, on count back, with 38 points.

However, Nicholson’s 38 was enough to see off the opposition in the Centenary Sword, with Jane Dixon (33), second.

Caroline Baker’s 38 points was enough to win the Committee Cup, with Jane Broom a close runner-up with 37.

On Saturday the junior medal was won by Bradley Rowe with a bristling net 68

from Bradley Searle (70) and Lewis Cottam (71).

Last, but certainly not least, congratulations to Dorset county junior David Lyon who won the Club Championship last Sunday and a full report on this will be in next week’s Midweek Herald.
