Chard & District Swimming Club competed in the second round of the National Arena Swimming League on Saturday, November 14, which was held at the Pyramids Pool, Exeter writes Steph Hallam.

Chard & District Swimming Club competed in the second round of the National Arena Swimming League on Saturday, November 14, which was held at the Pyramids Pool, Exeter writes Steph Hallam.

Once again, there was some tremendous swimming throughout the evening.

Abigail Dare, 12 and Jake Hallam, 13, both obtained new club records in the 100m butterfly event, improving upon their previous times. Abigail 1-18-06 (12 yrs and under) and Jake 1-06-27 (14 yrs and under).

The boys' 13yrs and under team of Ben Fowler, Daniel Walker, Jake Hallam, and Huw Khan- Davies were second in the 4x50m medley relay. Individuals coming second were: Ben Fowler, 13, in the 100m backstroke; Oliver Bilbie, 11, in the 50m backstroke; and Elsie Emery, 10, in the 50m butterfly. Elsie was also third in her 50m breaststroke.

Other individuals coming third were: Jake Hallam, 13, in the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle; and Oliver Bilbie, 11, in the 50m freestyle.

The girls 9-11 yrs 4x50 Medley relay team consisting of Chloe Bryant, Marsha Emery, Elsie Emery and Lauren van den Barselaar also came third.

The club would like to thank the company "And So To Bed" for their kind donation which was used to sponsor the new squad tracksuits which are helping to promote the team image. A special thank you also goes to the team coaches, John and Pam Farrant, June Turner, Roger Welch and Amy Rodger for all their continued support.

The full squad are looking forward to swimming in the final round which will be held in Barry, South Wales, December 13.

Final Scores: Millfield 236; Cardiff A 200; Exeter City 192; Nofio Sir Gar 153; Chard & District 140; Ferndown 116.
