Four rinks of Seaton ladies v gents played the annual match for the Price Cup.

Played in its usual friendly, but competitive, fashion, it finished up with both the ladies and gents winning on two rinks each. When the scores were totalled, it was the men who ran out the winners.

Top ladies' rink comprised of Betty Steer, Barbara Thompson, Angie Mayhew and Julie Grant, and the top men's rink was Jeremy Allison, Ted Harden, Roy Carnell and Ray McDonald. At the tea that followed, ladies' captain Angie congratulated the men on their win and presented the cup to men's captain Don.

Six rinks of Seaton ladies took on six local clubs playing for the Perham Trophy, again an annual event, sponsored by the Perham family.

At the end of the afternoon, Sidmouth Ladies were declared the winners, with Budleigh Ladies the runners up.

A few weeks ago Seaton Ladies won the Spears Trophy, at a similar event run by the Sidmouth Ladies, so I am sure that they travelled home happy that they had taken their revenge for that defeat.

The Over-60s had a great win over arch rivals Madeira on Wednesday winning on both rinks 37-24. Top rink J Allison, J Wright and R Woolland 22-10. The other rink is well worth a mention, although they only won by one shot 15-14.

Going into the final end four shots down, they picked up five shots, thus securing the two extra points which could prove vital with just two games to play.

Ann Brown and Julie Grant won five matches on the way to the last eight in the over-55s County Pairs. Madeira and England player Sue Herriott and partner ended their challenge at this stage, going on to reach the final.

The two friendlies this last week have both resulted in heavy losses for Seaton BC.

Against Lyme Regis at home 4 rinks of men lost 62-83.

Top rink F Dart, G Fullalove, L Skipper and Roy Carnell 20-16.

Five mixed rinks playing away at Tiverton BC fared even worse losing 88-121, although the afternoon was greatly enjoyed by all. The only winning rink for Seaton was Ruth Gregory, Bob Scull, Dave Yardley and George Mabon.
