Axminster BC men enjoyed an excellent win over Kingsley in their County Interclub League match (91-59) with both home rinks winning well – John Chance, Alan Preece, Bob Sherborne, and Charlie Barber (34-14) and Gerald Knott, David Lawrence, Eric Skeemer, and Paul Moffitt (20-10) and the away rink of David Harris, Andy Spiller, Tony Savage, and Norman Denslow (20-13), writes David Harris.

In the same League, the club lost narrowly against Sidmouth ((73-79), despite good wins at home for Philip Stephens, Neil Solomon, Eric Skeemer, and Charlie Barber (19-16) and away for John Packham, David Harris, Malcolm Denslow, and Roger Woolland (21-18). In the County Over 60’s Men’s League, Ax lost their last game of the season against Madeira (68-92) with the only successful rink being Philip Stephens, Tony Savage, Norman Denslow, and Charlie Barber (23-21) in the away leg.

The Ladies put up a good show against the strong North Devon team in their County Foxlands game before losing (78-92) with the away rink of Phil White, Barbara Mowatt, Marion Harris, and Sheila Martin doing well to win (26-20).

In the friendlies, the men lost at home to the Exeter and District Summer League in another tight match (48-62) with wins for Les Monk, William Cook, Alan Preece, and Eric Skeemer (26-19) and Brian Cursley, John Brennan, David Harris, and Andy Spiller (15-12).

The ladies tied with Madeira in their triples match after a thrilling finish (53-53) with wins for Sheila Cox, Ann Clayton, and Nola Stephens (15-12) and Joe Barnish, Alison Glyde, and Margaret Crompton (23-21). In the only mixed friendly played, Ax lost (50-64) at home to Taunton BC with narrow defeats on all rinks. Unfortunately Chard were unable to raise a side for their game.
