Chard swimmers were busy in action again during the Easter break at the Three Towers Open Meet at Millfield, with 36 swimmers aged between nine and 16 competing over the two days writes Hannah Pullinger.

The swimmers achieved many top medal positions with 30 Gold, Silver or Bronze positions.

Swimmers achieved South West Counties Qualifying or Consideration times across the board.

Hannah Pullinger (17), in the 100 breaststroke, Jake Hallam (17) in the 100 butterfly, Dan Andrews (18) in the 50 butterfly, Melissa Hanson (15), in the 100 and 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle, and Elisha Hawkins (13) in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

In all 32 swims achieved county standard times!

Gold medals were won by Hannah Pullinger 17, in the 50 and 100 breaststroke,

Jake Hallam 17, in the 100 butterfly and 50 breaststroke, Elisha Hawkins 13, in the 200 individual medley, 100, 200 and 50 breaststroke, and Henry Taswell 11, in the 50 and 200 butterfly.

Silver medals were won by Hannah Pullinger 17, 400 Ffreestyle, Lauren Harrison 16, 200 individual medley, Melissa Hanson 15, 50, 100 and 200 backstroke, 200 freestyle, Jamie Pullinger 14, 100 backstroke and Millie Downes (nine), 50 breaststroke.

Bronze medals went to Dan Andrews, 50 butterfly, Lewis Pearson 13, 100 and 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, Abi Bonning 12, 50 and 100 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, Henry Taswell 11, 400 freestyle, 200 backstroke, Leo Bonning 10, 200 breaststroke, Millie Downes 9, 200 breaststroke.

Other medal winners were: Grace Haskins, Leonie Housham, Eden McDonald, Michael Moulding, Oliver Bright, Florence Swan, Jamie Porter,

Other swimmers who also took part gaining many personal best times were: Paul Harrison, Ella Harvey, Simon Davis, Joss Copeman, Harriet Copeman, Jamie Lillington, Ashley Lillington, Nathan Roberts, Mollie Simpson, Tom Simpson, Moli Riley.

Swimmers of the month for March were Melissa Hanson 15 for achieving new regional consideration times in the 200 individual medley and freestyle, and Oliver Bilbie 14, and Joe Spurway 15 – Oliver achieving a new regional consideration time in the 50 backstroke and Joe in the 50fFreestyle. Joe was also awarded the club’s Gold speed badge for recording a time under 27 seconds in that race.
